If Your Ministry Could Talk, It
Would Probably Tell You How to Get Funded
If Your Ministry Could Talk
We live in the
age of advanced communication. Courtesy of technology, our cars,
phones, computers and other non-living possessions now talk to
us. They tell us who’s calling, what’s not working properly,
what directions to take, etc. In so doing, they help us make
decisions that shape our lives.
What if your
ministry could talk? What important information might it share
to help you in your mission to make life better for all?
Over the past
nine years, I’ve studied and served Christian social-services
ministries, large and small, across America. Drawing upon my
background as a marketing and communications professional, I’ve
found three common concerns among them. If your ministry could
talk, it might express these concerns by telling you to:
See my worth!
I may not have much money right now, but I’ve got something
greater – the power of God! Only ministry can transform lives so
that they’re better forever. If you’d spend a little less time
seeking handouts and a little more time assigning real-dollar
value to all the human good I do, people will be a lot more
eager to support me!
Show me off!
God’s Word says you are to “let your light shine before men, so
that they can see your good deeds and praise your Father in
heaven.” In case you’ve forgotten, the life-transforming stuff I
do are miracles, which are to be publicized to the glory of God.
Miracles make believers and believers make supporters. This
means, I’m a blessing going out and coming in. But, you gotta
take me out, first!
Hook me up!
Let’s face it. I’m more than you can handle alone. I need to
become a part of other helpful ministries, larger
community-service programs, and socially responsible business
endeavors. This way, we can shape a righteousness movement
strong enough to fix all of what’s wrong these days. Think about
it. Not even Jesus was a lone ranger. If He had disciples,
surely we need partners!
A valuable
ministry makes God valuable. A visible ministry makes God
visible. By following the example set by Peter’s ministry, you
can give your ministry all it’s asking for, then watch God bless
it with all you’re asking for! Now that you’ve heard loud and
clear what your ministry has to say, take the next step:
Respond!
There are more
than 1.4 million nonprofits in America, hundreds of thousands of
which are faith-based. Christians give three times more to
charity than non-Christians and are the biggest supporters of
ministry.
